Artisan Chocolatier Janet Vine makes her handmade
chocolates in the county of Essex in heart of the English countryside. She first began
making themas a hobby, her objective? To get away from the boring and sickly
fillings like flavoured fondant (99% sugar) and sugary commercial Pralines etc, that form the basis
of so many mass manufactured and hand made chocolate selections.
Over the years, Janet has been busy experimenting with the finest
natural flavours and ingredients, fresh and pasteurised dairy produce, fresh and preserved fruits,
exotic liqueurs and the highest quality Belgian, German, French and English Covertures, developing
deliciously innovative fillings, home made chocolate truffles, fruit
and liqueur creams, chocolate fudge and marzipan etc,
turning them into delicious handmade chocolates.
Janet "tried out" her creations on friends
and gave them as presents or gifts and over time, people, even
complete strangers started contacting her to volunteer as her "Guinea Pigs". Word spread
and demand became such that it was becoming far too expensive to continue giving them away.
It became necessary to choose a name and after much
thought and discussion, it was decided that, because of chocolates universal association with
romance and love, Aphrodite - the ancient Athenian and Greek Goddess of Love - was a natural choice
and Aphrodite Handmade Chocolates it is.

NOTICE: We do not sell or 're-package' Belgian (or anyone else's) chocolates, with the exception
of some chocolate shells, all our chocolates and fillings are entirely handmade by ourselves to our
own recipes here at America Farm in the UK. Our chocolates are hand filled, hand dipped and hand
decorated, we do not use machinery except that which is necessary to melt and temper chocolate, and
we do not use 'bought in' ready made fillings.
