Wine and Chocolate Gift Boxes
For
our wine and chocolate gift boxes we've chosen two very exclusive artisan made, Chateau bottled,
fine wines and combined them with a gold gift box of our delicious handmade chocolates. Both wines
are very exclusive Clarets of excellent provenance produced in very small quantities, you won't find
these on the shelf at the local supermarket, or anywhere else in the UK for that matter.
Both wines are produced by artisan winemaker Christian Durand at his family vineyard,
Chateau Yveline which has been in the family for over 200 years. Due to it's unique location, it
straddles three different Bordeaux appellations, the vineyard produces 3 different claret wines,
Laland-de-Pomerol, a Montagne Saint-Émilion and a Bordeaux Superior. Each wine is handmade in small
quantities with the emphasis placed on the quality and individuality of the wine, rather than
quantity. They are robust enough to complement our chocolates, and provide a memorable chocolate and
wine experience.
In an age when modern winemaking technology produces wines that, while of very good
quality, are more and more alike, Christian Durand is a true artisan who's overriding principle is
to safeguard the individuality (terroir) of his wine. As he says ."I am a winemaker,
not a chemist, and I want my wines to reflect that fact"

Chateau Les Chapelles is an excellent Claret of 2001
vintage, traditionally vinified in very small quantities from three grape varieties, Merlot,
Carbernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vines are grown on just 4 hectares of the vineyard with
a particularly rich mixture of soils and a wonderful exposure, lying under the village of Chappelles.
Tasting notes: A sumptuously classy Claret of intense aspect, a full body, complex tannins
and rich fruit flavours with a long, velvety finish. Robust and rich on the senses, it's a wine
that's more than able to look after itself and complement the richness and complex subtleties
of our handmade chocolates perfectly.
Chateau
Yveline 2001, 'Lalande de Pomerol'
A wine and
chocolate gift box of a a bottle of Chateau Yveline 2001, Lalande de Pomerol fine claret and a gold
ballotin box with 2 layers of our handmade chocolates (about 390g), in a in a wine red gift box tied
with a wine red ribbon and delivered with your message on a card.
This
excellent fine Claret is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown on a small select part of the vineyard,
situated in the commune of Neac. The grapes are hand picked and selected, so only the best go into
the wine which is vinified using traditional techniques and aged in oak for 18-20 months. The
production of just 15,000 bottles per year makes this a unique and very exclusive wine.
Tasting notes: A beautifully rich, sumptuous, well structured and full bodied
Claret, with the Merlot grapes giving suppleness, superb fruit flavours and a long, long finish.
This is an elegant and very exclusive wine, a wine to savour now or improve with age, and (not
surprisingly) it goes well with our chocolates.
